Freshman John Carter Massey began playing golf only three years ago, but he has quickly developed into a dedicated athlete with big goals. One of his favorite memories so far is playing in postseason tournaments with his teammates, moments that fueled his drive to compete at the college level.

Massey chose Wallace State because of the combination of strong academics, excellent practice facilities, and a supportive coaching staff. His biggest inspiration has been his dad, who encouraged him every step of the way. One of his proudest accomplishments so far has been committing to play college golf, a milestone he values greatly.

John Carter emphasizes maintaining a healthy balance between academics and athletics, making time for both. His personal goal this season is to win at least one tournament, while as a team he hopes to compete for and win a national championship. His favorite drill is the bench workout, and he prepares for competition by listening to worship music and praying.

Away from the course, he enjoys playing the piano, pickleball, and working, and hopes to attend a Division I school and earn his pilot’s license eventually. Known for being hardworking and respectful, he strives to leave a legacy built on faith, effort, and integrity.
